There are a number of factors to take note of when performing a costing.

The total number of emails will determine which costing AWS applies to your account. The higher the volume the cost per email goes down, but when you start reaching millions of emails per month the calculation factor is done slightly differently than if you are only doing 1000s of emails per month. We did not add this threshold change into the calculator.
~~The calculator does not take into consideration the free-tier calculations. We assume that you are beyond this threshold.~~ This is no longer offered by AWS
When using the managed IP addresses - there is a tier costing threshold added to each email sent using this service.

You can of course use it to get a rough idea on costs. But the higher the number of emails per day the cost factor will not be the same as what AWS charges.
