Email headers provide detailed tracking information for an email, showing its journey through different mail servers.
They contain timestamps, IP addresses, and sender/recipient data, which can be invaluable for diagnosing issues like email delivery problems, spam detection errors, and message bouncing.
Steps to View Email Headers in Gmail
- Sign in to Gmail using a web browser.
- Open the email you want to inspect.
- Click on the three vertical dots (More) next to the Reply button.
- Select Show original. This will open a new page displaying the email headers.
Sharing Headers with Support Staff
- Copy the information in the table at the top of the email headers.
- Click the Copy to clipboard button under the table to copy the entire header.
- Paste the copied header into an email and include any additional details.
- Send the email to Technology Support for further assistance.
